PC controls
The official Roblox page lists E or click for picking up and placing a book. Q drops the current book. The scroll wheel changes which carried book is on top, and right click zooms in. The top-book control matters because the game can let you carry a stack: cycle to the right volume before placing it rather than dropping and rebuilding the pile.
Use zoom before a long trip when covers or category labels look similar. A two-second check costs less than crossing the library twice. If clicking interacts with the wrong object, move the camera so the desired book or shelf slot is not blocked by another hitbox.
Controller controls
RT picks up or places a book. B or O drops it. LT cycles carried books, and the D-pad activates unlocked abilities. The official description does not publish every platform-specific menu binding, so this page avoids guessing at unsupported buttons.
Controller players should slow down near crowded piles. Cycle with LT until the intended volume is selected, face the target shelf space directly, then use RT. If placement repeatedly fails, step back and re-approach instead of rapidly pressing the trigger.
Mobile and accessibility notes
The official description does not currently provide a full text list of mobile controls. Touch prompts shown in the live game are the source of record. Keep this guide and the shelf lookup open on a second device when possible.
For any platform, divide the task into recognition, travel, and placement. First identify the category, then confirm the floor and code, then move. This prevents input speed from hiding a navigation mistake.
